Kangaroo care is a form of developmental care that has benefits for all newborns, especially those who are in the neonatal intensive care unit. Also known as skin-to-skin contact. It involves direct contact when a newborn is placed skin-to-skin on mom or dad’s bare chest.
Skin-to-skin care is safe and effective in promoting physiologic stability and breastfeeding in preterm infants. It is the first step towards a mother being comfortable holding her preterm or ill infant for feeding. S2S care has benefits for both mother and infant, which are especially important for the preterm or sick infant in the Neonate Intensive Care Unit.
We are focusing on reducing the infant mortality and infant morbidity as well maternal mortality and Maternal Morbidity in Mumbai especially in Govandi and around by providing the best quality neonatal care to the low and middle-income community and also increase the survival rate of infants in the low-income community, and round the clock, dynamic service will be provided in a cost-effective manner
As few centres are offering a comprehensive Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in M ward for children and mothers, this service is extremely valuable.
